Scholarships awarded by Phillips County Motorsports Phillips County Motor Sports President Greg Kirkwood announced four $500.00 scholarships would be available to 27 Montana High Schools, taking in Hill, Blaine, Phillips, Valley, McCone, Richland, Roosevelt and Daniels County. Seniors may contact their school counselor for application forms. The schools were chosen from the areas represented by the drag strip race participants as they are the ones who made it possible for this program to become a reality with the support shown during the Hi-Line Dragstrip’s first year of operation. The mission statement of PCMS states its business and purpose of the corporation shall work for the promotion of economic development and tourism and to award scholarships. The emphasis will be on automobile related training preferably at trade and vocational, schools. President Kirkwood stated, “This is geared towards the student who may not have the high grades, but have a desire and will to further his education in the auto related field.” Applicants must be 2008 graduates to apply. Students have until April 15, 2008 to return the forms which have been sent to the schools. Questions can be directed to Greg Kirkwood at 406-654-1132.
